Natural habitat

This bird is found in a variety of habitats, including forests, forest edges, and savannas. It inhabits the tropical rainforests of Argentina, the dry forests of Bolivia, the Chaco (plains) in Paraguay, and the Pantanal (flooded savanna), the Cerrado (savanna), and gallery forests in Brazil. It lives at elevations up to 600 m; in some regions, it has been reported at elevations as high as 1,700–2,000 m.
