On June 29, 2024, Zuma, a little female jaguar, was born at Parrot World, and visitors can already see her!
Come meet her soon—you’ll fall in love with her adorable little face!
This is a particularly rare occurrence in zoos and wonderful news for biodiversity. The jaguar is an endangered species in the wild, which is why it is monitored by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) as part of an EAZA Ex-situ Programme (EEP).
Zuma, our little female, is the fifth jaguar cub born worldwide this year.
Emma, our female jaguar, gave birth in the privacy of her indoor enclosure after a three-month gestation period. The cub is currently growing well, protected and well cared for by her mother. She is also being closely monitored by our animal care team.
When you come to visit Zuma, the little female jaguar, please be patient! Take the time to find her. If she isn’t immediately visible, she may be napping or hiding in the vegetation.

The jaguar population has declined by 80% over the past fifteen years in the tropical forests of South America, due to deforestation and poaching.
“According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the jaguar is classified as a ‘near threatened’ species,” explains Eric Vignot, founder of Parrot World and the Parrot Wildlife Foundation. “These jaguar births at Parrot World represent a ray of hope for the species’ survival.”

Two male jaguars were born at Parrot World on April 1, 2022: Baalam and Akabo. A major milestone for our immersive wildlife park!
Now adults, the two big cats have been transferred to other wildlife parks as part of a species conservation effort: Akabo, the black jaguar, is now at the Zlín Zoo (Czech Republic), and Baalam, the spotted jaguar, is at the Amnéville Zoo (Moselle).
