Ascension Day 2026 — Things to Do Near Paris with Parrot World

The Ascension Day long weekend is one of the few times of the year when everyone has time off at the same time.

Ascension Day 2026 falls on Thursday 15 May, giving you a 4-day long weekend near Paris. Discover Parrot World — zoo lodges, animal feeding experiences, Sunday brunch and more, just 40 minutes from Paris.

The usual go-to? Booking a weekend at Disneyland, heading to Brittany, or getting stuck in Friday night traffic. But there’s a third option, just 45 minutes from Paris: Parrot World, in Crécy-la-Chapelle, Seine-et-Marne.

Do I need to book immersive experiences in advance?

Yes, absolutely. Programs like “Feed the Turtles,” “Caregiver for a Day,” and “Budding Caregiver” have very limited availability.

Can you play golf without ever having played before?

Yes. The Crécy Golf Club offers introductory lessons every Sunday, with equipment provided, on the Montpichet course (9 holes). The beginner’s package includes the lesson, clubs, and access to the driving range equipped with TrackMan technology. Children are welcome starting at age 5. No license is required for the introductory lessons.

Is Sunday brunch available without staying at the lodge?

Yes. Le Panoramic restaurant is open to all visitors; you do not need to be staying at the resort. Reservations are strongly recommended for the Sunday of the long weekend, which is the busiest day of the year.

How long does the tour of Parrot World last?

Allow 4 to 5 hours for a full and leisurely visit.

This pace allows you to explore the Amazonia Trek and the Patagonia Trek, watch the guided animal feedings, enjoy the giant playground and the interactive mini-farm, and take in the activities without rushing.
