El Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican national holiday that has blended Native American and Catholic traditions for over 3,000 years. Far from being a sad occasion, it is a joyful celebration of life and remembrance: we honor departed loved ones in an explosion of colors, flowers, and music. Its cultural richness has earned it a place on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2008.
The festival takes place every year on November 1 and 2: the 1st is dedicated to deceased children (Día de los Angelitos), and the 2nd to adults. It naturally follows Halloween, celebrated on October 31. At Parrot World, experience both from October 3 to November 29, 2026.
Halloween has its roots in Celtic traditions and is all about thrills and costumes. Día de los Muertos, on the other hand, is Mexican, vibrant, and family-oriented: the goal isn’t to scare people, but to celebrate those we love. At Parrot World, you can experience both atmospheres in a single visit.
You’ll find all these symbols in our Mexican festival village and along the Amazonia Trek, where our calavera face-painting workshops invite young and old alike to transform themselves.
In Mexico, the skeleton doesn’t evoke the fear of death, but rather life that goes on. That’s why our skeletons are festive and friendly: a perfect celebration for a family outing, even with the youngest children.
Skeletons are about to take over Parrot World's Amazonia Trek.
