Natuurlijk leefgebied
Hij komt vooral voor in droge berggebieden, tropische bossen, galerijbossen, dennen- en eikenbossen, op een hoogte van 600 – 2 600 m.
Afhankelijk van het seizoen is hij te zien in vochtige bossen, doornbossen en andere habitats in de laagvlakte.
Zijn lokale aanwezigheid wordt bepaald door zijn voorkeur voor rust- en nestplaatsen op rotswanden.
